Bio: I am a storyteller. Everything I have done – speak, preach, photography, film, literary writing, scientific writing or just plain conversation is related to storytelling. I have five degrees in four different fields and have dreamt of more. But a dear friend (Roy Branson) told me to stop going to school and just write and make films. So, that’s what I’m doing. Well, not exactly. I work full time and carry three titles: Assistant VP for Spiritual Life and Mission, Director of the Center for Spiritual Life and Wholeness, and Assistant (soon to be Associate) Professor of religious studies. I have taught in the area of whole person care in medicine for years and also teach in the area of religion and health at the doctoral level. I speak around the world on various topics, but have taken fewer speaking appointments so I can stay home with my husband, whom I married in 2013 (a Scotsman in a kilt!). You can view our 4 minute wedding video from my website (as I am sure you will rush to do). I am an avid reader and like to discuss what I’m reading. Perhaps here on this website. Gordon and I are vegan – a strange fact to slip in here, but we enjoy the challenge of cooking food that looks and tastes non-vegan, not to mention the fact that we enjoy eating “clean” (although I did, in fact, just mention it). Gordon is an architect and builder of Formula Atlantic racing engines. In 2016 I was the main producer and executive producer of a short form documentary film, A Certain Kind of Light, on the life and work of Dr. Wil Alexander. During that process I fell in love with filmmaking and bought a Sony A7R to launch out with both photography and film. But first, iPhone iMovies! I love listening to and capturing stories – others, as well as my own. Every day, every moment, is a story. Sometimes the story is hidden – in the crevices or the mundane – but it is always there for those who look for it. My favorite example of this is my little one minute film, Story of a Seedpod – a sort of travelogue of a seed and the creatures that carry it. Enjoy my website.
